Pitchers Ramon Garcia, Jeff Gerbe, and infielder Louis Ott are heading to the disabled list. Garcia made the start last night for West Michigan but left after only two innings. Stiffness in his surgically repaired shoulder was the problem. Jeff Gerbe has shoulder tendinitis. Louis Ott broke his ankle in last night's melee with Lansing.
Whitecaps hitting coach Benny Distefano was also injured in the fight with Lansing. According to the Grand Rapids Press, Coach Distefano suffered several fractures to the right side of his face. He'll be having surgery to repair the damage.
Pitchers Eleazar Aponte and Luis Marte will join the Whitecaps in South Bend.
