'Caps take 2 of 3 from Lansing

The West Michigan Whitecaps recently took two of three games from the Lansing Lugnuts in a four-game home-and-home series. Sunday's game at Fifth Third Ballpark was postponed due to rain.

On Thursday the Whitecaps defeated the Lugnuts 2-0 at Oldsmobile Park in Lansing. Ramon Garcia pitched his best game of the season. He pitched a complete game 3-hit shutout. He also struck out 5 batters. Justin Henry had a hit and 2 RBI. Audy Ciriaco had 2 hits and scored a run. Kody Kaiser had a hit and scored a run.

Friday night the Whitecaps lost to Lansing 7-3. Whitecaps starter Alfredo Figaro lost for the first time this season. He went 6 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, and struck out 5 batters. Chris Carlson had 3 hits, including a solo homer. Casper Wells also hit a solo home run. Roger Tomas had a hit and scored a run.

Saturday afternoon the Whitecaps beat the Lugnuts 4-2 at Fifth Third Ballpark. Whitecaps starter Manny Miguelez was the winning pitcher. He pitched 7 strong innings, allowed 1 earned run, and struck out 8 batters. Noah Krol was also awarded his fourth save of the season. Casper Wells hit a solo homer. Audy Ciriaco had a hit and scored a run. Justin Henry had 2 hits and scored a run. Kyle Peter, Ronnie Bourquin, and Marc McBratney each drove in a run.

On Saturday the Whitecaps announced that Ramon Garcia had been promoted to the Advanced A Lakeland Flying Tigers. In addition to this move, relief pitcher Kelvin Cedano was sent to Extended Spring Training.

Taking the place of these players is right handed starting pitcher Brandon Hamilton and lefty pitcher Mauricio Robles. Both Hamilton and Robles are joining the 'Caps after spending time in EST. Hamilton is one of the Detroit Tigers top 10 prospects.
